The Association of Project Managers (APM) was formed in the UK in 1972 and is an associate of the IPMA. The APM has over 13,500 members in the UK and abroad. The aims of APM are to develop and promote project management across all sectors of industry and beyond. The APM publishes a body of knowledge which details 42 knowledge areas to manage any successful project. The 4th Edition of APMs PMBOK was released in 2000 and is available from the APM website.

As part of the Office of Public Service and Science the CCTA was responsible for promoting the effective use of IT in support of the delivery of objective services by the public sector. In order to meet its requirements the CCTA developed: the ITIL as a set of best practices for IT service management; Prince as a standard for IT project management; and Prince2, a generic framework for successful project management. In April 2001 the CCTA became part of the OGC.
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is a global community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. The IETF publishes its recommendations on requested subject areas. RFC2196 is one such subject; RFC2196 is a guide to developing computer security policies and procedures for sites that have systems on the Internet. The purpose of the article is to provide practical guidance to security of information and services. The subjects covered include policy content and formation, a broad range of technical system and network security topics, and security incident response.

The IPMA was first established in 1965 as a discussion group for managers of international projects. It aims to contribute the knowledge and experience in attaining the best of the expected results out of projects.
The IPMA currently comprises over thirty National Associations with roughly 35,000 members. The IPMA is governed by a Council of Delegates which comprises one representative from each of its Member (National) Associations. They meet once or twice a year and act as a general assembly and steering committee for IPMA.
The official journal of the IPMA is the International Journal of Project Management. Members of IPMA receive the International Journal of Project Management by the IPMA organization eight times a year.

In 1969, the group formalized, incorporating as the EDP Auditors Association.
